Dear [MEMBER_NAME GOES HERE] Building the Future with Hacker DojoHacker Dojo is a non-profit hackerspace in the San Francisco Bay Area. Over the last 14 years, Hacker Dojo has been home to a thriving community of tech enthusiasts keen to learn about technology, build new connections, and grow as a community. With over a hundred members and thousands of people per month coming through our doors to teach, build, learn, and connect, the Dojo is a unique and enduring monument to Silicon Valley culture. Pinterest and Webflow, both multibillion-dollar companies, were nurtured here as they were founded, as did countless other companies, projects, and friendships. DONATE NOW TO MAKE IT HAPPEN Emerging from COVID has been challenging for many, but it has also been clear that connection and community are the core needs of so many people worldwide. We tremendously appreciate the community's support in reaching this point, and we seek your support to continue serving the community here in Silicon Valley (and around the world). Over the past year, we have been inspired by groups like Women in Robotics, Pacific Hackers Association, FIRST Robotics, and many more, which we have been able to host at Hacker Dojo. We hope you will help us continue to serve as a hub for connection and community long into the future. Expanded SpaceWe are currently very space-constrained at Hacker Dojo - any event, meetup, or workshop we host directly impacts the space available for people to work, members and guests alike. Expanding our footprint will allow us to host larger hackathons and more meetups, support additional community organizations, and offer more programs that support our financial sustainability. We have several promising options for expanding our space and need to have sufficient cash reserves for those to be viable options. Community ManagerOne of our precise needs is a staff member dedicated to improving and maintaining the experience for guests and members at Hacker Dojo, from assisting Meetup organizers to ensuring essential supplies are available for members. This person can help us improve the retention of members and welcome new people to the community. As budget allows, this is our core hiring priority in 2024. Rebuilding Financial ReservesWhile we work on rebuilding Hacker Dojo's financial strength, cashflow management remains an ongoing challenge from month to month. COVID and reopening significantly depleted our cash reserves, and we need to rebuild our buffer to manage our cashflow better, particularly as we have months with significantly higher bills than others, so we see significant oscillation between surplus and shortage from month to month.
